Rookie QB Dennis Dixon (Oregon) is likely to play against the Baltimore Ravens in week 12
The last time the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens met, a Super Bowl Odds berth was at stake as they played in the AFC Championship game. On Sunday the stakes will be different as the two teams will be battling for survival in the NFC North as both teams trail the Cincinnati Bengals. The Steelers are 6-4 after losing at Kansas City last week while the Ravens are at 5-5 after last week’s loss to Indianapolis.

Pittsburgh was worried that they wouldn’t have quarterback Ben Roethlisberger this week after he was injured against the Chiefs but Big Ben is fine and is expected to start. Roethlisberger had 398 yards and three touchdowns last week. While the Steelers will have Big Ben, they will not have backup quarterback Charlie Batch and are unlikely to have superstar safety Troy Polamalu. The loss of Polamalu is huge as the Steelers have not played well defensively without him on the field. Baltimore is also likely to be without their defensive star as linebacker Terrell Suggs is unlikely to play.
Baltimore has struggled mightily on offense of late as quarterback Joe Flacco has been off and the team is settling for field goals. Last week they had to settle for five Billy Cundiff field goals in the loss to the Colts. Baltimore has lost some tough games this season with all five losses coming against division leaders. “These losses have been against teams that are quality football teams,” coach John Harbaugh said. “Call them elite football teams in the league, but we aspire to that.”
Pittsburgh has the 16-10 all-time edge against the Ravens including a sweep last season. The Steelers won 23-20 and 13-9 in the regular season and 23-14 in the playoffs.
